Ziro, Arunachal Pradesh, April 3 (HBTV): Three tourists from Kerala comprising a married couple and their friend were discovered dead in a hotel room on Tuesday in Arunachal Pradesh's Ziro town.

Preliminary investigations by the police suggest that all three may have bled to death from wrist cuts, with a note recovered from the scene.

The couple was identified as Naveen Thomas (35) and Devi (35), who were reportedly Ayurveda doctors from Kottayam district, while the third person was identified as a Arya B Nair (29), a female school teacher from Thiruvananthapuram.

Superintendent of Police Keni Bagra stated that the trio had checked into the hotel on March 28 and had been sharing a room since then. Interestingly, on March 27, relatives of Arya had filed a missing complaint in Thiruvananthapuram as her marriage was scheduled for the following month. Subsequent investigations revealed that Arya had traveled to Guwahati with Naveen and Devi before they all arrived in Arunachal Pradesh.

According to reports, hotel staff had observed the three moving about the premises until March 31, but they were not seen thereafter.

Meanwhile in Kerala, cultural activist Soorya Krishnamoorthy shared information from Devi's father, Balan Madhavan, a travel photographer, who claimed that the deceased had fallen victim to black magic.

Krishnamoorthy mentioned that despite being well-educated and established, the victims succumbed to superstition. Monichan Kizhakkedam, president of Meenadom Panchayat in Kottayam, stated that the couple had abandoned their Ayurveda practice a year ago to venture into online trading. He added that Naveen's social interactions were limited, despite living with his parents who were said to be retired government employees.

A case of unnatural death has been registered by the police in Arunachal Pradesh. Superintendent of police Keni Bagra mentioned that the recovered note contained a phone number. Upon calling the number, the police were connected to the couple's family. Bagra emphasized that the investigation would delve into the tourists' activities in Arunachal Pradesh, as they had visited the region solely as tourists.

Further investigation is underway.
